Isabelle Pead is an artist working across sculpture, sound, video and performance. Her work centres on the relationship between the voice and the sounding body, considering softness, utterance and the inbetween. Through a combination of sculptural objects, synthesised sound and her use of extended vocal technique, she explores the material and relational properties of sound and the interaction between performer, space, audience and object.
Isabelle Pead has exhibited work with Sommers Gallery, The Florence Trust, Seager Gallery, Studio Chapple, The Horse Hospital, The Who Gallery, MoM Art Space Hamburg and Galerie Kaufhof. She is the co-founder of the Foldable Sounds Collective (2020) and has hosted radio shows on Resonance Extra and Narr Radio.
Whist at @wpp_writersroom, Isabelle will explore ideas of expanded libretto, pulling together recent performances and sculptural work to begin the formation of an abstract opera. She will engage with words/language/utterance to create a libretto that can act as an ongoing guide for a variety of sonic and performative elements.
Her residency will culminate with a performance of her work on Sunday 3rd May, doors 6pm.
