May's Writers' Room Resident is Leo Bussi: Whilst at the Writers’ Room, Leo will be developing ‘Ek' his ongoing curatorial and research project about articulating and experimenting with contemporary forms of ekphrasis. We have seen a rise in both ekphrastic poetry and visual art that responds to poetry. Concurrently, there has been a new wave of interest in the efficacy and function of ekphrasis, that focuses on its role as a type of creative practice and a way of thinking through aesthetic judgement. Leo will focus on organizing two events, one an ekphrastic reading and the second an ekphrastic lecture series alongside focusing on his own poems about going to see art shows.
Join us for an evening of ekphrastic reading, ‘Ek’ curated by Leo Bussi as part of the two events he is organizing for his residency. Nasim Nasim Łuczaj, Rose Higham-Stainton, Sean Burns and Leo will each read pieces that interrogate how the visual mediates language and experience.
